inheritors of anarchy

My two years old daughter is deeply disturbed by scenes of violence and killings in movies. She immediately starts howling when such scenes are playing on the TV, leaving us with no choice but to switch it off. So effected was she with a scene in the recent ‘New York’ in which John Abraham is shot dead, that she kept saying mar diya, mar diya for rest of the day. What is really surprising is even now when she sees the actor in magazines or on TV, she is reminded of the scenes from the movie and says mar diya, mar diya repeatedly. And to think that it was just a reel and not real life killing. How will she react the day she realizes that her world is full of violence, killings, mindless acts of terrorism and meaningless battles? What kind of world are we bringing our kids into? With other acts of violence like corruption, exploitation, discrimination, harassment… that are as disturbing to the innocent heart as blood and gore, their world is getting more and more dangerous by the day. And the more disturbing fact is that we parents can't really protect them enough.
